We would like to welcome you to the Sarnia and District Labour Council's Website!

Sarnia & District Labour Council is the central labour body of local unions in Sarnia and Lambton area and are affiliates of the Canadian Labour Congress. It is the "Municipal Voice" of labour in the Sarnia District.

32 local unions with an approximate membership of 3,500 trade unionists. A cross section of construction workers, public sector workers, trade workers, government employees and community service workers and energy and chemical workers.

Our Mandate

It is the Council's responsibility to speak on behalf of its affiliated local unions at the municipal level. The Council endeavours to have labour representatives appointed to Municipal Councils, the Board of Education, Hospital and Industrial Commissions, etc:

To support the principles and policies of the Canadian Labour Congress.

To promote the interests of its affiliates and generally to advance the economic and social welfare of workers.

To assist affiliated organizations in extending its benefits of mutual assistance and collective bargaining to workers.

To encourage all workers without regard to race, sex, creed, colour or national origin, sexual orientation, disability, age or religion to share in the full benefits of union organization.
